Licensing Process
The University pursues an aggressive licensing program for the development of mutually advantageous license agreements with industrial partners. Once a company expresses an interest in licensing a technology, your campus technology transfer office (TTO) will begin the negotiation process. The license agreement can be either exclusive or non-exclusive and can be adapted as necessary for each situation. Because a license usually represents a long term relationship, the University strives to develop an agreement which satisfies both parties. There is no way to predict how long it will take to negotiate the agreement or how soon royalties will be received once an agreement is in place. For many inventions, it may be years before it actually gets to the marketplace.
